Leadership Changes (7th April 2017)

message by Ian Barker, Chief Executive Officer

Oxford

We are very sorry to be saying goodbye to one of our longest serving and most distinguished teachers and highly successful Headteacher Mrs Joanna Jones over the Easter holiday as she prepares to take up her new role with Oxfordshire County Council, leading SENSS across the county. In recent times, Jo has acted as SENCo, Deputy Head and latterly headteacher, bringing passion, commitment and deep knowledge to each and every task. She will be sorely missed by everyone at school and by governors and directors of the Trust who hold her in the highest regard. Of course, we wish her all the very best as her career develops.

The school is fortunate in that it has been able to appoint her successor from a strong pool of candidates. With effect from 24 April, Mr Jonathan Willis will take up the Headship. Jonathan is also a long-serving and outstanding teacher in our Oxford school, ambitious to build on Jo's legacy. Supporting him will be Mrs Michelle Griffiths as she assumes the post of Deputy Head. The Board has every confidence that this new leadership team will drive the school forwards and we wish them well.

City of Wolverhampton

Over in Wolverhampton, our school and pupil referral unit share the same site and from 24 April they will share the same leadership. Mr Adam Price has been appointed Executive Headteacher to oversee operations in both school and PRU. Adam is another bright and ambitious leader who is keen to make an immediate impact, and the Board will offer him every support in what is a challenging environment. Adam will be supported by Mrs Tina Whitehouse in the school and by Mrs Wendy Welch at the PRU, who each will ensure the smooth operation of day to day routines under Adam's guidance. Adam, Tina and Wendy want to enhance cooperation and joint work between school and PRU, a long overdue development. With the Trust's central support team housed on the same campus, they have every chance of success.
