I am delighted, on behalf of the staff and Governors, to welcome you to our Northern House School (Wokingham) website where we hope you will find useful information regarding our very special school.
A new chapter in the support of pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health has begun. We aspire to be a vibrant and happy community providing an excellent opportunity for boys and girls to develop their talents and reach goals others thought that they may not. Our students are all unique with their own individual personalities and challenges. What sets us apart is that we see beyond the behaviours to the child and work with each one to become an independent learner.
Pupils have the opportunity to thrive in our relaxed, supportive atmosphere, and take personal responsibility for their own learning.
Our well-trained staff work with skill and determination to help each child reach their potential. They provide enjoyable and challenging experiences that capture the minds of those who have given up on learning, or learning has given up on them. Whilst academic outcomes are important to us, we also look for broader measures of success: our pupils’ personal development, their satisfaction and their confidence for the future hold equal weight in our endeavours to help young people move to the next phase of their lives.
Our aim is to provide a world class education. We strongly believe and promote the aim of giving all our young people the opportunity to develop in such a way that when they leave the school they will have developed skills to be more successful participants in society. We also have a strong belief that just because the pupil attends a special school, he/she should not receive a dumbed down curriculum, but on the contrary one that serves to meet the needs of the individuals.
We insist on the very highest standards of behaviour and expect all pupils to respect themselves and others and to take pride in their appearance
I hope that you enjoy browsing our website and that it gives you a flavour of what Northern House School (Wokingham) has to offer. I look forward to hearing from you should you wish to know more about us and what we do.
